Hello!
My name is Jeff Baker. I’m a husband, a father of two young boys, a photographer, and a set lighting technician (Grip) who has worked in the film industry for over 20 years. I shape light on Hollywood film sets by day, but my first love has always been photography!
My journey began in college, 25 years ago. Shooting with a film camera, and hanging out in the darkroom developing my prints by hand. I immediately fell in love with the art of photography, and it’s power as a medium to tell stories and capture memories. My early focus was landscape photography. It was me, some camping gear and my camera on a motorcycle, riding all across the American West. Then I met my wife, the love of my life, who was and is a professional ballet dancer. She, and the art of dance became my next muse. I spent many years photographing dancers, both in live performances and in the studio. It wasn’t long before our two sons entered our lives. Their hurricane energy, laughs, chaos, and adventure became the next focus of my photography. Documenting the story of our family has been both an honor, a challenge, and one of my greatest joys!
I’ve always been fascinated with memory. The way we hold on to our brightest moments, our greatest joys. As the years pass, our memories hold but the edges smooth out and the exact details fade. So quickly those special moments pass us by! When I can capture one of those moments with my camera, it’s magical. Like capturing a firefly in a bottle. It’s a way to stop the sandpaper of time and keep that precious memory near. That’s been my pursuit and passion with photography all these years. Chasing those fireflies.
